BART HARRISON
Founder
Bart Harrison is the Founder of Legacy 1031. His career includes more than 37 years of experience in the financial services industry with the past 20 years focused exclusively on real estate securities.

Prior to founding Legacy 1031, Bart was responsible for educating financial advisors and intermediaries on the benefits of allocating a portion of their investment portfolio into REITs and private real estate funds. In 2015, Bart recognized a growing need among accredited investors for 1031 Exchange replacement properties and focused his practice on 1031 Exchange transactions using Delaware Statutory Trusts (DST). Further expanding his practice, when the Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) program was introduced in 2017 as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Bart understood that the tax planning benefits QOZ funds offered were not only essential for real estate investors but also for individuals looking to defer tax on the sale of any other investment that generates capital gains (stocks, business interests, art, etc.)

Bart excels at communicating the features of DSTs and QOZ offerings in a way that makes the pros and cons of investing easy to understand. His career in the commercial real estate securities industry, coupled with his personal and professional experiences, have helped shape the investment philosophy that guides the company today.

Bart played basketball at both Rice University and Samford University, where he completed his education. He also holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.
